I grew up in the Colorado outdoors appreciating natural beauty. After graduating with a degree in molecular biology from the University of Colorado, I moved to Seattle in 1997. Here my passion for photography began. I got my first 35mm camera in 1999 and took the Mountaineers’ nature photography course to learn how to use it. I have been shooting ever since. After becoming a mother in 2003, the subject matter of my photography shifted toward children and families. For me photography is a way to hold onto what is fleeting, be it wrinkled baby toes or morning dewdrops; both are insanely beautiful and are gone soon after you appreciate their beauty.
